Grease Sing-A-Long

Sunday, August 16, and Wednesday, August 19, will see this delightful two-hour musical classic presented by Turner Classic Movies and Paramount Pictures appear in cinemas nationwide, including in locally participating locations.

GREASE (1978) is the most successful movie musical of all time, and this is the original with John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John as teenage sweethearts singing and dancing in high school days in the 1950s.

The world-famous soundtrack includes the classic songs of “Grease”, ” “Hopelessly Devoted To You,” “Look At Me, I’m Sandra Dee,” “Summer Nights,” “Beauty School Drop Out” and “Greased Lightnin.”

Take yourself back to those “good old days” and have the fun of participating in a sing-a-long.


“WALT BEFORE MICKEY” a biopic on Walt Disney

September 4 will see the local openings of this made-in-Florida film in theaters from Palm Beach Gardens to Lake Worth to Delray Beach. It very recently had its grand opening at Downtown Disney. Wanting to use a great many Florida people, 500 extras from the state were employed by the filmmakers, including many locals from Palm Beach County.

The movie by Armando Gutierrez and Arthur L. Bernstein is based on the book by the same name by Timothy Susanin with a forward by Diane Disney Miller, Walt Disney’s daughter. The book is based on documents, newspaper articles, interviews, correspondence, census records and other details that Walt had left behind. The book and movie delve deeply into Walt’s early years of 1919 through 1928 with a portrait of the artist from age 17 to the cusp of his international popularity. He went through many setbacks as he struggled with and failed at his dream of animation by working in a variety of venues and studios before he finally mastered the art and created his Steamboat Willy and Mickey Mouse, with the mouse having a very interesting background story.

STORY TIME at Okeeheelee Nature Center in West Palm Beach

Thursday, August 20, at 10:00 AM for one-half hour will find the little ones, ages two through five, being introduced to Mother Nature through stories! The activities may include games, live animals, nature walks. and/or crafts that are designed for toddlers and preschoolers! Reservations are required, and the cost is only $2.00 per child.
